Our Mission Story

Growing Our Future is a Bemidji-based 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free gardening kits and resources to local youth. Our goal is to inspire a love for nature, nurture creativity, and foster environmental stewardship among young minds. Hi all! I need some volunteers for Growing Our Future to help put dirt in Bags on November 8th starting at 11am. It should only take about an hour and a half or so, depending on how many volunteers we have! We will be bagging dirt at our Storage Unit by the Bemidji High School. We’re excited to share that Growing Our Future was awarded a $1,200 Operation Round-Up grant from Beltrami Electric! A huge thank you to Beltrami Electric Cooperative and everyone who made this generous donation possible. 🌿 Houseplant Swap & Sale Event! 🌿

Join us for a fun-filled houseplant swap and sale! Bring your plants, make new friends, and discover some unique greenery for your home. Here’s everything you need to know:

🪴 Swapping Process:
Sign In: Upon arrival, please sign in at the registration table and provide your contact information.

Label Your Plants: Make sure to label your plants with:

Plant name
Care instructions (light, water, etc.)
Any known issues (pests, diseases, etc.)
Price (for items you’re selling)
Initial Swapping: You’ll have 45 minutes to negotiate and complete swaps. Feel free to swap up to two plants at a time!

Sales Period: After the swapping concludes, we’ll transition into a sales period for 30 minutes. Offer your remaining plants for sale using cash or electronic payment methods (like Venmo or PayPal).

Wrap-Up: Once the sales period ends, we’ll wrap up the event. Don’t forget to take home any unsold plants or donate them!

📜 Swap Rules:
Eligibility: Bring at least one healthy houseplant to swap.
Plant Condition: Only healthy, pest-free plants are eligible for swapping or sale. Please inspect your plants before bringing them.
Swap Value: Plants should be of similar value in size, health, and variety. Be fair and respectful in negotiations.
Sales Guidelines: Price your sale plants reasonably, and mark them clearly. Limit sales to 3-5 plants to ensure everyone gets a chance to participate.
Respectful Conduct: Treat all participants and their plants with kindness. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.

After the event, join our follow-up group or social media page to share your experiences and plant care tips!

Our plant sale fundraiser goes from 11-4:30 today at @wildflowercottageshop located at 4905 Bemidji Ave N. All seedlings are grown organically and without fertilizer, which makes for an extremely healthy plant.

We have numerous different types of vegetable seedling, including various pumpkins, cucumbers, gourds, and squash, beans, peas, cabbage, broccoli, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and herbs. We also have Onion sets, tulip bulbs and hyacinth bulbs available.
We have some unique hot peppers, that aren’t sold anywhere else locally, as well.

One of my favorite parts about Growing Our Future is getting to see these faces and how they light up in the garden. Many of the youth who get kits from us wouldn’t have been able to garden if not for the kickstart (and supplies) our organization was able to provide.
